「春はあけぼの "For spring, it is the dawn that is most beautiful."」
清少納言が書いた「枕草子」は
英語にも訳されていて
英語ではどのように表現されているのか
気になったので少し調べてみました！
春はあけぼの。
ようよう白くなりゆく山ぎは
少し明かりて
紫だちたる雲の細くたなびきたる。
"In spring, the dawn-when the slowly paling mountain rim is tinged with red,
and wisps of faintly crimson-purple cloud float in the sky."
こちらはMeredith McKinneyさんという方が訳された
枕草子（The Pillow Book)の冒頭なのですが
表現がアカデミックでちょっと難しい…
いろいろ調べてみると他にも英訳があって
"For spring, it is the dawn that is most beautiful.
The skies on top of mountains become lighter and lighter with the rising of the sun.
The long thin clouds that turn light purple are a sight to be enjoyed, too."
