What's
JYUNIHITOE ? ・ It literally means 12-layered kimono. ・ The
origin dates bask to the Nara Period (9th Century) when it was considered court
dress. ・ Since the 11th Century, Heian Period, when Kyoto was the capital,
it became the formal wear for court ladies. ・ Through the ages, it has
gone through various changes but today is basically a multi-layered kimono,
not 12, and also calls for traditional hair dressing and a special
ornamental fan. |
